The weather today started with winds so fierce it was difficult to stand upright. Lunchtime saw a slight lessening so I took to the river to make the most of the last days of the season which finishes on 30 September for river wild brown trout. But I can still fish the upland lakes for a few more weeks. It was tough to get the fish to rise to a dry fly but there were a few that did. This one was caught on a Yellow Sally.
A couple of days ago I had a great afternoon on the Dee with my friend Karl Humphries. A red shrimp pattern took 4 nice grayling, a sea trout took a wet black spider, the parr would attack anything that moved and a few nice browns took a host of dries. All in all a very successful week to end the season. But I will be out again tomorrow!
