The water was a veritable crane fly broth! The ubiquitous daddy were everywhere and the wind (and it was windy) were sending them to a water grave. The trout were having a field day with some spectacular aerial acrobatics as they chased these ugly sputs trying to lift off from the water.
This stunning brownie was one of many that took advantage of this gastronomic feast.
And here is the cause of the piscatorial excitement, the crane fly or daddy long legs. Who would have thought anything could find this appetising! Probably one of the most unattractive, insects to take to the air. Not only did they hit every branch when they fell out of the evolutionary ugly tree but their flying skills leave a lot to be desired.
