Blog, news and reviews from Snowdonia Fly Fishing Guides
I occasionally get asked what's the difference between fly lines. There are so many different lines on the market the choice can be bewildering.
The Barrio GT range (GT 90 and GT125) may help those scratching their heads about what line to choose. These lines have a fairly conventional front taper and belly but a very long rear taper. This offers a good deal of casting versatility from short to long distance casting and everything in between. I use the 4wt and 6wt and am impressed with their lack of memory and shooting ability and the extended rear taper allows a good deal of line to be aerialised. GT90 comes in a stealthy green colour and the GT125 in orange or cream.
If you want an all purpose line one of these should fit the bill.
The lines are very reasonably priced and are posted out very promptly, I've never had to wait more that 2 days for delivery.
To sum up; good lines, great prices and excellent service.
