Well that's it then, the brown trout season has come to a close ;0(
But all is not lost, now's the time to get some grayling fishing organised. North Wales offers some great sport for winter grayling on the fly.
If you have never fished for the Lady of the Stream now is the time to have a go. You don't need any special tackle for grayling fishing, trout tackle is fine to have a go at these hard fighting fish but good strong tippet is recommended (there's nothing ladylike about the bend they will put in your rod!)
I was fishing with my good friend Karl Humphries recently and had several lovely fish on a shrimp pattern. Karl, an exceptional fly dresser, has kindly made me some grayling flies of his own design to try. I'll be out next week giving them a go.
