I took a trip over to llyn Dywarchen on Sunday. I've not fished there for a considerable time. The lake is lightly stocked with some feisty rainbows but not enough to impact the indigenous wild brown trout population. There was an abundance of activity on the top with ring forms everywhere. But the trout were not taking dry flies or suspenders. They were however fry bashing and a deer's hair fry pattern worked a treat. I didn't even cast to this fish, just dropped the fly in the water to make a cast and it was munched by a beautifully marked fish that weighed just shy of 2lb.
